Approved | Educational Training Facility – Brisbane
JREY trading as Urban Planners Queensland secured development approval from Brisbane City Council for the establishment of an educational training facility.
The proposal involved the adaptive reuse of existing display, sales and industrial buildings to create a training facility providing emergency response education as part of a broader network of community-focused facilities. The development was carefully planned to support both operational efficiency and accessibility while making effective use of existing built form.
Under Brisbane City Plan 2014, the facility was defined as two complementary uses:
Office use
Education facility
The development application was assessed against the relevant provisions of the planning scheme, including the Specialised Centre Zone Code, Specialised Centre Code, Darra–Oxley District Neighbourhood Plan Code, and the Industrial Amenity Overlay Code.
This approval demonstrates a strategic planning outcome that supports community infrastructure through adaptive reuse while ensuring compliance with planning controls and neighbourhood objectives.
