Approved | Two-Storey Dwelling – Macleay Island
JREY, trading as Urban Planners Queensland, secured development approval from Redland City Council for a new two-storey dwelling on Macleay Island.
While the dwelling house use was accepted development within the site’s zoning, a development application was triggered due to the Coastal Protection (Erosion Prone Areas) Overlay under the Redland Planning Scheme.
The proposal was assessed against relevant State planning provisions and the Redland Planning Scheme 2018, including compliance with the Character Housing Zone Code and a range of environmental and hazard overlay codes relating to coastal protection, environmental significance, flood and storm tide, landslide risk, and waterway corridors and wetlands.
Designed by Natalie Adams Design, the approved dwelling demonstrates a considered response to a constrained coastal site, balancing residential development with environmental protection and hazard management requirements.
