A 60 minute paid consultation with Jessica Reynolds. Send us your site and your questions, nominate a time, and get senior planning attention on your project before you commit to a Preliminary Planning Review or a full engagement.
The Pre Engagement Meeting is UPQ's paid entry point. A short, structured consultation that gives you senior planning attention on a specific Queensland property, before you commit to a fuller engagement.
It sits before a Preliminary Planning Review, and is designed for property owners and developers who want to sanity check a site, a proposal, or a fit with UPQ, without committing to the full Preliminary Review fee.
Not a free consultation. Priced low so you can test the fit.
If you commission a Preliminary Planning Review within 60 days of the meeting, the $250 + GST fee is credited in full toward the Review fee. The meeting effectively pays for itself if you move to the next step.
Not formal planning advice. The Pre Engagement Meeting is a scoping conversation, not written planning advice you can lodge or rely on in a dispute. Formal advice you can rely on comes from a Preliminary Planning Review or a full engagement, all of which are written, scoped and site specific.
Senior planning time is structured across three touchpoints so the conversation itself is not the first time we've looked at your site.
Jessica reviews the property, the property report, your intended development, and your written questions ahead of the call. The meeting starts with informed answers, not information gathering.
A 30 minute conversation with Jessica directly. We work through your questions, the planning considerations affecting your site, and the pathway options in front of you. No juniors on the call.
A written follow up within 3 business days. Captures the substance of the discussion, the practical next steps, and where a Preliminary Planning Review or fuller engagement would add value.

Include two or three time slots that suit you across the next 5 business days. We confirm the slot and issue the invoice, which is paid before the meeting is held.
30 minute online meeting or phone call at your booked time. Written follow up within 3 business days. From there you decide the next step, whether that is a Preliminary Review, a full engagement, or nothing further.
The fee is paid before the meeting is held. That is how we protect the time in the calendar and the preparation ahead of it.
Credited toward a Preliminary Planning Review. If you commission a Preliminary Review within 60 days of the meeting, the $250 + GST is credited in full toward the Review fee.
If the site is out of scope (outside Queensland, or a matter we cannot advise on), we tell you before invoicing and no fee is charged.
A short list of what clients most often ask before requesting a Pre Engagement Meeting.
Yes. The $250 + GST fee is credited in full toward the cost of a Preliminary Planning Review, provided the Review is commissioned within 60 days of the meeting. So the pre engagement fee effectively pays for itself if you move to the next step.
Yes. Send us the site and what you want to do, and we will come back with a written scope and fee for any of our services (Preliminary Planning Review, DA Management, or Development Management) at no cost. What we do not provide without a formal engagement is planning advice. That is what the Pre Engagement Meeting, and the deeper engagements, are for.
The property address, a short description of what you want to do (a couple of sentences is fine), and two or three specific questions you want to work through in the meeting. The clearer the questions, the more useful the 30 minutes.
Normally within 5 business days. If you need something faster, say so in your enquiry and we will do what we can.
No. This service is Queensland only. We work across all Queensland local government areas but do not advise on planning matters in other states.
No. The Pre Engagement Meeting is a scoping conversation, not formal planning advice. Formal advice you can lodge or rely on comes from a Preliminary Planning Review or a full engagement. All written, all scoped, all site specific.
Within 3 business days you receive the written follow up. From there you can commission a Preliminary Planning Review, engage UPQ for DA Management or Development Management, or take no further action. The decision is entirely yours.
Every booking request is read personally by Jessica. If the site is in scope, we will confirm a slot and issue the invoice. If it is not, we will tell you before any fee is charged.
